Hit the lower Gunny for a few hours today, there are lots of dead fish along the banks and I could not believe the amount of sediment. There are huge sand bars all over the place and the numbers reflected the poor conditions. We did catch a fair number of fish, most in the 6"-10" range and only one over 20". The numbers were also about 98% browns as in my son landed 2, I didn't even hook and lose one today. Comparatively my last several trips have been heavier on the bow side. I fished the BA special all day while my son made the rotation through most of the other colors, the gold natural and the regular gold were his best producers.

The trip to the green was sweet and sour. The A section (that I have walked and fished compleatly before) was such a cluster of combat fishing and floating that the trip really turned out to be more of a float trip as oposed to a fishing trip. Still fish were caught and the browns averaged 14-16 with a few rainbows caught that looked fresh from the hatchery. It was beautuful in the canyon with little of the massive burn that is seen above into the canyon it self.

We had our two trucks so we brought one truck to the B section take out and left it over night allowing us a full days float and no shuttle costs. The experience on the second day was superb. We were the first on the water and were able to fish anywhere we wanted as we moved down in our two pontoons. The fish were more responsive here too with a show on the third cast and constant action throught the day. Everything was new to me below grasshopper Island and that new water excitment abounded. There was one particularly nice run that kept me busy for at least an hour and I would have stayed longer had we not need to get to the take out by dark.

The long slow pool above Red Creek rappid was a little errie as you drifted by the ungulating weeds that pulsated in the current ocasionally revealing huge submerged boulders and also cylinder sized trout! We chickened out at red creek and lined out pontoons past the first portion but after about 20 yards we road it through. Stopping mid way I fished through the moving water from the right side, here to I had to leave unfished water as my companion was unable to stop and was below a rock cliff near the red creek camp.

Water clairity visably decreesed below red creek and a silty red stain was hugging the left side, also the weed beds were drastickly reduced below this area. Still good action at every location we stopped with never any competition from other floaters who were all guided drift boats, maybe six in total and three rangers on kyacks.

Evening shaddows started to creep in as we saw the area open up into browns park. The river broadened here into many islands and shallow riffles. One shadded area caught my attention and I parked my boat and hiked up past a car sized submerged boulder in the main current. One cast, two strips and he was on with a heavy thud. Bolting out into the current and zipping down stream he then sulked in the slack water below but after I followed, and regained my line, he returned up past me to his home behind the boulder mentioned before. Here we did the dance that eventually brought my prize to sight a handsome golden brown in the 20 inch range,

After this fish my heart was not into it any more and I went threw the motions but really I was done with fishing having that warm satisfied feeling in my sole. With the river completely shadded we worked our way to the take out and we followed a beaver for a few hundred yards before it submerged only to pop up behind us to continue his swim. The B section for both of us was a great all day trip that must be experienced again.

Due to work related issues again a float trip had been canceled so a 1/2 day was the only option. the Colorado River was of excellent shape and color from rifle to Glennwood but in the canyon visibility dropped to about two feet, still fish able but not in prime shape as the lower sections. Starting at the power station boat ramp I hooked my first brown on the third cast. A feisty fish that threw the fly on its second jump, a good start. And so it went with hooking fish at every likely looking edge area but no mid stream action. There was a tremendous bikini hatch going on with the parade of floaters but the fishing was completely mine for this mile or so of river down to Grizzly Creek.

Evening brought me to the No Name area and a favorite pool and tail out again came through with great takes but loss of two large trout. finally at the end of dusk and visibility I hooked a mid teens brown who thought he was a rainbow executing several Aeriel displays before he tired and came to hand. Another fine day of fishing in the busy corridor of trucks, bikes, boats, and helicopters with only one other fisher woman (also in her bikini) as their drift boat passed me on the evening section.

It's been a long time since the last time I posted anything on WSA. Kinda weird. I have been doing a lot of hiking for a website that I created called gjhikes.com. I have been on a couple of hikes and noticed people backpacking in to do a little fishing. It made me think of WSA and whether anyone on here is into that sort of fishing.
Anyway, you might check out http://rexmario.blogspot.com/2010/08...reek-loop.html and http://rexmario.blogspot.com/2010/07...ood-trail.html or just go to gjhikes.com.

Dear devoted ones.
I want to thank all of you hard working American people for paying $242,000.00
plus additional expenses for my vacation in Spain. My daughter Sasha, several
long-time family friends, my personal staff and various gues...ts had a wonderful
time. Honestly, you just haven't lived until you have stayed in a $2,500.00 per
night suite at a 5-Star luxury hotel. We only booked 70 rooms for our friends,
staff and family. Thank you also for the use of Air Force 2 and the 70 Secret
Service personnel who tagged along to be sure we were safe and cared for at all
times. Air Force 1 is a little expensive but dream to fly in!
Air Force 2 only used 47,500 gallons of jet fuel for this trip and carbon
emissions were a mere 1,031 tons of CO2. It costs only $11,500 per hour to
operate Air Force 2 and each additional plane for the other members of our party
group. These are only rough estimates, but they are close (who's counting?).
That's quite a carbon footprint as my good friend Al Gore would say, so we must
ask the American citizens to drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars and drive
less too, so we can lessen our combined carbon footprint.
I know times are hard and millions of you are struggling to put food on the
table and trying to make ends meet. I do appreciate your sacrifice and do hope
you find work soon. I was really exhausted after Barack took our family on a
luxury vacation in Maine a few weeks ago. I just had to get away for a few days.
Will write more from Martha's Vineyard where we will spend our sixth vacation
this year with more of our family and friends. For only the second time in my
adult life, I am not ashamed of my country.
Love to ya all,
Michelle Obama

It gets tiresome hearing the conventional wisdom say that the Democrats will likely keep control of the Senate. Far from it.
To gain control, Republicans must win ten new seats. An analysis of the latest polling data suggests that Republicans currently hold the lead in eight pick-up states: Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wisconsin, Washington State, Arkansas, Delaware, North Dakota, and Indiana. In a ninth, Illinois, the candidates are tied and, in the tenth – Nevada – Reid is ahead by only one point. And, for insurance, Boxer in California and Gillibrand in New York are both below 50% of the vote. In Connecticut, Blumenthal is only at 50%. That’s a potential pickup of thirteen seats and a likely gain of at least ten (enough for a majority).
Any incumbent who is running at less than 50% of the vote is in serious trouble. It means that a majority of the voters have decided not to vote for him or her. (Asked if you are likely to be married to the same person next year, a vote of “undecided” does not bode well for your marriage).
So here are the numbers:

August 27th Polls
Nevada:
Reid (D) 45 / Angle (R) 44 (Mason Dixon)
With Reid this far under 50%, Angle is likely to win.
August 26th Polls
Florida:
(Currently Republican) Rubio (R) / 40 Crist (I) 30 / Meek (D) 21 (Rasmussen)
So much for Crist!
Pennsylvania:
Toomey 40 (R) / Sestak (D) 31 (Franklin-Marshall)
August 25th Polls
Colorado:
Buck (R) 49 / Bennett (D) 40 (Reuters)
California:
Boxer (D) 49 / Fiorina (R) 44 (Rasmussen)
Boxer has gained a bit, but still in trouble.
Louisiana:
(Currently Republican) Vitters (R) / 51 Melancon (D) 41 (PPP)
Wisconsin:
Johnson (R) 47 / Feingold (D) 46 (Rasmussen)
Illinois:
Giannoulias (D) 45 / Kirk (R) 45 (Rasmussen)
August 24th polls
Missouri:
(Currently Republican) Blunt: 54 / Carnahan: 41 (Rasmussen)
August 21st Polls
Washington State:
Rossi (R) 52 / Murray (D) 45 (SurveyUSA)
August 20th Polls
Arkansas:
Boozeman (R) 65 / Lincoln (D) 27 (Rasmussen)
This is not a typo!
The most likely results are that Republicans win the eight seats in which they now lead and also take Illinois and Nevada for a gain of ten seats and control. They also have a good shot in California and possible upsets in New York and Connecticut.

Picked up Ifishallday at 7 to go test the new HD trout colors. The plan was to fish the Rado. The clarity is still poor at best and after 3 stops and 3 fish we moved up onto the Fork. The clarity below the slide was much better than the rado, but still poor. We hit up a secret spot and caught several good fish and then we moved up to the Pan. We started at a spot on the Pan below Basalt. I was fishing so insane that we stayed there for 2-3 hours with non-stop action the whole time. This is where A5 found us and showed him and his pals what the HD can do. After wearing out or arms on nice fish there we headed for the TOILET BOWL, what better place to test a lure than on fish that think mysis are the only food. I will say that I was surprised at how well the HD fished in the bowl, those fish would grad the lure on a dead fall, crush it when reeling but they loved it the most if you could get it near the bottom and then bring it straight up !! I landed one huge bow and we both landed some nice browns out of the bowl. After we had our fill of testing in the aquarium we started down the flats, which were completely empty. The sun had gone behind the hill and the big fish wanted to play. I only have a few pics, Brian has a ton and a lot of video that we will share later.

I went to the rado on Saturday. Water conditions were visibility of 2 feet and improving throughout the day and 56 degrees. There were some floaters but I had four different sections I fish all to myself on a weekend day. I fished from 8:30 to dark with about 20 trout to hand: a mix of rainbows and browns with the largest only 14 inches. There was action all day at every location and there were several large showing fish that I had missed. All in all a great Saturday on the stream that has been blown out all summer.
