Baitcaster setup

Anyone have any advice on a good first baitcaster rod/reel setup. Thinking something that I can throw 1/4 oz tubes, senkos, and jerkbaits on. Might see the occasional 1oz tube Mack fishing if it is capable of handling big Lakers, but will mostly be used for smallies at ridgway, and browns at blue (I finally bought a boat). Would like to keep it around $200 total if possible. Thanks in advance.

I'd look for a good quality used reel if that is your budget. I'd stay in the 100 series. Like a quantum pt energy. looks like these are new.

For rods I'd look at the fury series from Dobyns. They seem to mark their rods heavier than other brands. So a heavy is more like a medium heavy. I think this rod reel combo would do great for you.

You might check on tackle warehouse and see if you can get better deals on shipping.

Ahh yeah that jerk bait thing. You'll need two rod combos. You could go with a lighter rod and try that out but you wouldn't want to throw skirted jigs or flip rigs on it.
